Historic information on a patient’s nutritional status, including previous diet order, meal patterns, preferences, and other critical details, can be kept. You can archive this information upon discharge and then reference, recall, and/or update it at any time.

Ideally, the Diet History application should interface with the hospital’s ADT system, Order Entry system, Laboratory system, and Pharmacy system to create patient records for the Diet History file and execute automated updates to the records.

The Diet History application fully integrates with related Vision Software tools for Menu Management, Nutrient Analysis, Nutritional Risk Screening, Nutritional Assessment and Food-Drug Interaction.

Using electronic interfaces, the Nutritional Risk Screening application continuously accepts data from existing hospital ADT, Order Entry, Laboratory, and Pharmacy systems. Software compares data to the screening criteria you have established, and automatically generates screening reports that highlight all patients who meet established risk criteria in real time. Upon review, dietitians may elect to have the computer generate a thorough nutritional assessment profile on specific patients who have met the screening criteria. The nutrition screening report also serves as medical record documentation.

Timely, automated nutrition screening helps to ensure effective allocation of clinical staff time. It supports proactive nutrition care interventions that can reduce length-of-stay, while also flagging data for Medical Records to ensure coding for third-party reimbursement based on nutrition-related diagnostic groupings.

Automation vastly improves accuracy and productivity in the nutritional assessment process, freeing clinical staff to apply their expertise to interpret data and create viable nutritional care plans.

The Nutrient Analysis application uses the state-of-the-art nutrient databases to deliver the latest data available. You receive updates to the database on a routine basis, and can also input additional food items into the nutrient database to further customize its application to your food inventory.

Using the nutritional composition of recipes and individual inventory items, you can calculate nutrients for recipes, menus, and the nutritional intake of individual patients. Using built-in standards, you can compare intakes to RNI or RDA tables. You can define as many standard tables as you wish. You can also calculate nutrient density of a patient’s diet or an individual food item.

When used in conjunction with the Diet History application, you can access specific patient data, such as age and sex, and apply desired nutrient standards. Summary nutrient analysis data can be transferred to and stored in the Diet History daily, with the option of generating a multiple-day composite analysis.
