Vision Software Technologies is celebrating 42 years of providing exceptional software and support to the healthcare foodservice industry, and we couldn’t be more grateful to our clients who support us! We thought our readers might enjoy a trip down memory lane by sharing highlights of our history as a company. To help with that, we went to the source for the details – our president, Phillip Patterson.
The concept for Vision Software grew from recognizing the need for integrated food service automation, particularly with inventory and production. In 1979, VST offered two modules: Inventory Control and Food Production. The Food Production module included Production Menus and Scheduling, Recipe Explosion, Cost Centers, and Cost Analysis. The modules were installed in healthcare facilities, universities, and in-plant feeding sites. The automation achieved many goals for our customers, including standardization and cost controls.
In short time, the Purchasing and Catering modules were added, followed by Diet Office & Patient Menu Management. With the Diet Office components came batch interfaces for ADTs and Orders. Just a few years later, real-time HL-7 interfaces were developed for our patient modules. VST Software grew to 22 modules, including clinical programming for Nutritional Analysis, Assessment, Risk Screening, Food-Drug Interaction, and Patient Room Service. As technology advanced, so did VST platforms and offerings. We moved from mainframes to web-hosted platforms, to Interactive TV menu ordering, PDAs for menu selections, and inventory scanning.
Today, VST SuiteTM brings their best in user-friendly software, fully integrated modules, historical audit/tracking, and mobile options for menu selections, and tray delivery. As VST continues to develop new programming, we bring past commitments of service, support, and functionality into the future. We couldn’t do it without our customers, and we thank you for the continued input to deliver our best – always on track to anticipate our client’s needs.
